I finally got around to making a ring out of an agate slice my dad bought me years ago from a trip down the French Alps. the problem was that I couldn't find a ring base robust enough for the large stone from anywhere, well, until this past Friday when I found a great sterling silver ring base. 

the ring is so good I don't want to take it off my finger.

shopping from the past week or so

first of all, let me say s o r r y for my recent absence. 

I had a very special visitor from Australia for the last five days and figured that the dear friend of mine who I hadn't seen in over a year should get my undivided attention. before her visit I went on a cruise to Stockholm and back with some friends and even had the chance to hit the Swedish sales which turned out to be quite a feast...

I think my sales shopping is done, and actually, I might be done shopping for quite a while. I need to figure out what I own and what I need before I buy any more junk.

I think Santa must have mistaken me for  a really good girl this Christmas because he brought me some very unexpected yet welcome things this year ++ I finally got the Falke tights I've featured in pretty much every single outfit collage I've ever made. 

the ring in the 3rd and 4th pictures is by Lotta Veromaa and I got it from a very very good friend. it's pretty awesome. I call it the Iceberg ring simply because it's such an iceberg-looking chunk on the finger. 

the best thing about Christmas weren't the presents though, it was the feeling and the people I got to spend the holidays with. oh how I love this time of the year. now I'm off to watch Inglourious Basterds with my daddy!

yet again a big necklace....... I never seem to get enough of them. after I saw this one in the Finnish Trendi magazine I knew I had to get it. materialism at the purest. I don't care.

I've been going crazy over all kinds of necklaces. I don't really wear necklaces too often but I do find a good necklace an easy way to make a plain outfit more interesting. 

necklaces and earrings with cross charms have been all over the internet this autumn. a cross is not a symbol of belief or religion for me but somehow I seem to have fallen hard for the trend... so far I haven't had the courage to actually get a multi-cross necklace, but the alex&chloe necklace below is gorgeous! maybe I should make my own version with plus signs or something?

I confess. I am a big admirer of Kate Lanphear's personal style. she's wearing the coolest statement necklace I've ever seen. who knew a simple chunky silver chain could look so good?? I randomly found a very similar one on kabiri made by Ben Amun. it's leather so it might be lighter than the one ms Lanphear has but it's still too much for a student's budget...
