I went sales shopping today with a good friend and decided to stop by at the best record store in the world. lucky we did; they were playing a mind-blowingly good CD. I was astonished to find out it was Charlotte Gainsbourg whose music I used to passionately hate. this album however is fresh and doesn't sound a bit like 5.55. I passionately love it. 

one of the best records of the year, along with Prince of Assyria's debut album that I also got today. seriously.

iceberg

I think Santa must have mistaken me for  a really good girl this Christmas because he brought me some very unexpected yet welcome things this year ++ I finally got the Falke tights I've featured in pretty much every single outfit collage I've ever made. 

the ring in the 3rd and 4th pictures is by Lotta Veromaa and I got it from a very very good friend. it's pretty awesome. I call it the Iceberg ring simply because it's such an iceberg-looking chunk on the finger. 

the best thing about Christmas weren't the presents though, it was the feeling and the people I got to spend the holidays with. oh how I love this time of the year. now I'm off to watch Inglourious Basterds with my daddy!

baudelaire

the blogging world seems to have gone crazy over the Swedish BYREDO brand. I haven't checked out the fragrances yet but the perfumes sound just as tempting as their minimalistic bottles and labels look like. my favourite so far would have to be Baudelaire; juniper berry, black pepper, caraway, incense, hyacinth, leather, papyrus, patchouli, black amber.... sounds mouthwatering.

the bad thing about perfumes is that they rarely meet with the goodness and extravaganza of their description though. 

my personality weakness is impatience

I've been working on this post for weeks now. it's fairly pathetic, I know, but I just couldn't figure out what it was that I wanted to wish for this Christmas. I don't really need any of this but I wouldn't call it useless junk either. so it finally came down to these five things.

1 Phaidon's Living in the New Millennium. a book that is surely interesting for anyone who likes beautiful homes and houses, not just the pathetic wannabe-architect that I am 

2 the latest issue of the Mark magazine, for the same reasons as the number one item of the list 

3 a subscription of the Finnish Trendi magazine because it's the only Finnish magazine I like and read every issue of 

4 Flora by Gucci because I want change in my fragrance. I've used the Diesel Fuel for Life since last December and I don't ever want to get tired of it 

5 lastly, Falke's soft merino tights in black, simply because I don't know if my thighs can take any more of this   -20 degree weather. the tights in the collage are the wrong ones, but you catch my drift.

brrr. it was -13 degrees this morning when I got up!! I'm so glad the holidays are starting--- I feel like sleeping and snuggling inside by the fireplace and just watching the snow outside. needless to say I'm also dreaming of being able to wear stuff like the outfit above. the weather up here actually makes me consider buying things like UGG boots... warmth and comfort before looks I guess.

+++sorry, I know some of the items are items I've already featured more than once, I just can't get rid of those frames or that bag. I guess it tells a lot about their compatibility though?

WRECKAGE

today was the most surprising of days. when I came home there was a big package waiting for me on my desk. the package was from Australia where I spent the whole of last year, and the package was filled with Australian lollies and most importantly this:

WRECK THIS JOURNAL is a book project by Keri Smith. in short, the idea of the whole journal is to wreck it in all possible ways. it's going to be hard for someone like me who would want to do everything perfectly and leave the book in pristine condition but I will try. I already collected some lint off of my cardigan pockets and carelessly glued it on a page. I ripped a page too and wrote a word over and over again.

I will surely post some more images as I continue my journey towards being a girl with an appetite for destruction.

I stumbled upon some photos of Alexa Chung on some blog and noticed the bag she's been toting around-- the Mulberry Alexa bag.

    

I've never fallen for an it-bag before and I don't like the Mulberry brand very much, but there is something about that bag that I absolutely adore. even though I don't like the iconic Bayswater lock at all.

I had to check the Mulberry website then, of course, and I found something that I loved even more.......

the Mulberry Walter briefcase. I haven't ever thought about having a briefcase as an actual bag. I wonder why!? it'd be very practical for my pens and books and papers, and it even comes with a detachable shoulder strap like the Alexa. it's nearly perfect although I don't know if the handles are long enough for the bag to be carried like the Alexa one.

my intention was to post the best bits of the sonia rykiel pour h&m collection today, but as I went on hm.com to see the collection in whole I realized there was only one pair of underwear I actually liked. that underwear got to be a part of a collage then.

the powder pink roses on the underwear kind of tempt me so I think I have to go and get my own on Saturday....and apparently they're made of silk. maybe a little Christmas present for myself?

honestly, I haven't been very excited about the h&m collaborations in the past. think roberto cavalli, viktor&rolf, matthew williamson, jimmy choo... not my cup of tea. the stella mccartney collection, the only one I can imagine I would have liked, came out long before I could appreciate ms mccartney's eye for design. 

this sonia rykiel collaboration, on the other hand, is pretty successful to me. even though most of the underwear isn't the kind that I would wear the designs are gorgeous and work very well as a combination. the sweaters and other things designed by ms rykiel will hit the stores in the spring, looking forward to that...
