//weekday&monki finally opened their doors in Helsinki. the stores were so crowded I didn't want to stay for a long time but I did manage to buy the pants shown above. the perfect summer pants--they'll look great with a loose black linen tank and a blazer or a jacket of any sort.

bye bye boat

Stockholm was a great mini vacation, now I'm back in Helsinki again stressing over architecture assignments. I never thought getting to finally do something I truly liked would be this difficult.
the only thing I bought in Stockholm apart from a black American Apparel beanie:

Scorett's rip offs of the Acne Pistol Short boots.... they only cost about a quarter of the real deal. of course the Acne ones look better and are probably of a much better quality, but they would have kind of blown my budget.

shopping from the past week or so

first of all, let me say s o r r y for my recent absence.
I had a very special visitor from Australia for the last five days and figured that the dear friend of mine who I hadn't seen in over a year should get my undivided attention. before her visit I went on a cruise to Stockholm and back with some friends and even had the chance to hit the Swedish sales which turned out to be quite a feast...

1&2 Zara leather bag 3&4 American Apparel nail polish 5 Cheap Monday cube ring 6 Gina Tricot cross necklace 7 Monki stripe blazer 8&9 Acne pants from Urban Outfitters

++ I got a new American Apparel ruched front bra, a black Monki dress, these Weekday wedges in patent and the world's most comfortable tank top tunics in both black and white.
I think my sales shopping is done, and actually, I might be done shopping for quite a while. I need to figure out what I own and what I need before I buy any more junk.

square head

yet again a big necklace....... I never seem to get enough of them. after I saw this one in the Finnish Trendi magazine I knew I had to get it. materialism at the purest. I don't care.

I remember I admired this necklace a few years back when my friend wore it a lot
//now she no longer liked it so she gave it to me.

kan du gå som han

these babies finally came home today.
they'll be g r e a t with the whole wardrobe of mine, come rain, come shine --- with dresses, chunky scarves, cape-like coats, leather jackets.....
they just need a little bit of treatment and care before I take them out for a little walk. I've never taken really good care of my shoes, but these I intend to have for a long time.

life's been giving me sweet sweet strawberries instead of the famous lemons;
the autumn is mild and warm, the people are great, there are dozens of parties coming up, I do really well in school without even making an effort AND my dear friend from Australia is coming for a visit in december! I hope there's no end to this goodness.

lose or keep?

IMG_6011.jpg picture by grkidIMG_6014.jpg picture by grkidIMG_6013.jpg picture by grkid

what is it with me buying things I regret buying when I get home? where's cognitive thinking and keeping cool, where's simplicity and when the hell did spontaneity replace rationality?

I have solemnly promised myself to stop buying clothes and accessories and shoes until I seriously figure out what I want and need to buy. maybe it's just that I don't find what I look for and therefore end up buying things I'm not happy with.

before being able to quit buying things I'm not too sure about I have to:
a) raid my closet and throw out everything I haven't worn in the past year
b) decide what to do with the grey sweater dress above. I actually love the piece because it is pretty unusual, but it doesn't suit me as well as it could. the dress is 100% cotton though so no acrylics or any ugly polyester fibers which go static the moment you walk out on a winter morning, so I'm guessing this may actually stay in shape for long.
what do you think?

you've done a complete 180

I've been looking for a well-fitting black blazer for everyday use ever since I got the nude colored one in the spring. finally I found one, I'm just not completely sure it's the right model for me--it's not exactly a boxy fit. the back's been taken in just a little bit and it flares out at the hem again.
I know it's stupid to keep something I'm not 100% sure about. it's just that I really want a black blazer for the autumn and what are the chances of getting an even better one for the same price??
haha the hard parts of being a materialist like myself....

EDIT// I was also thinking about maybe adding some studs on the lapels--then again the stripes are most definitely a problem. stripes and studs, wouldn't call that a perfect ensemble. what do you say?

materialism at the purest

so this is what I decided to finally pamper myself with on my birthday. I'd been looking at this won hundred dress at beamhill for ages and now I'm just glad I didn't get it right away-- it was on sale.
I was also pampered with some gifts from my parents and relatives, but more importantly with the company of my parents. it was actually pretty great. we went to buy some groceries at the old market hall in the city, walked around, bought flowers and books, had ice lattes and finally went home to make some gorgeous risotto with fresh scallops and white wine.
pretty much the perfect birthday---until I went out that same night and visited some of the most disgusting clubs in helsinki. I rarely have fun going out anymore, I think I just go to the wrong places.

I'm feeling awfully uninspired at the very moment--my room is a mess, so is my life kind of
+++ it's too hot to throw on anything that even resembles stylish clothing. jenna wrote about this earlier (it's in Finnish, sorry) and it seems I'm not the only one suffering from the lack of appropriate pieces to wear in this freaking heat. the only thing I'm comfortable doing right now is lying out in the backyard in a bikini sipping a cold drink.

01 my cravings list from a couple of days ago that you probably can't even read
02 I can now strike through the wedge sandal part of the list

(I already regret having spent money on such a plastic pair of shoes. they're not going to look good for long. everyone has them. not to mention the fact I don't need heels as I never wear them. ahhhh shit. but I have excuses---they were on sale. and I was in the money and hadn't bought anything for over a week (!!!) and in addition they had my size. so I went for it. )

ps the sewing project is now completed. it's just a pain in the ass to photograph. I'll try again tomorrow if the weather (----> light) is better.

ambush

wednesday night my mom surprised me by saying she wanted to go look for a blazer with me. we jumped in a car and looked through most of the shops at the nearby shopping centre. despite what I said about zara blazers not fitting me, zara was exactly where I found the perfect one!

(today's outfit; blazer zara, circle scarf american apparel, studded cuff gothshop)
I'm off now, there's a relaxing friday night ahead of me!  freshly made spring rolls, raspberries and probably kill bill vol. 2 as I watched the first one
last night with a bunch of friends.
I think I could seriously watch the kill bill movies three times a row without moving,
they're just unbelievable.

poney honey money

gina tricot, 24,90 eur
these leggings are such a weird piece of clothing. they're all black, part normal jersey, part vinyl and part 80's gym legging fabric. they just make people stare at my legs.
ps I made A-W-E-S-O-M-E chlorine wash leggings today après travail, they're crazy. I'll try to get photos of them tomorrow when there's some light and post some photos.
